I feel like I've been fighting a bad bout of perfectionism recently, so here's an attempt at doing something poorly, rather than doing nothing extremely well.

Things! They're good and bad. Been super stressed, falling behind on homework that's too easy, contemplating do-it-yourself transhumanism, walking through 2 1/2 ft. snow drifts, playing FreeCiv with my sister and her husband, and forgetting whatever it was I was going to end this list with. Hrm.

Other things! They've been happening. Homebrew Channel on the Wii makes it 10 times better, computers have been doing lots of failing to turn on properly, and watching Snake In Eagle's Shadow again with my girlfriend causes the wanting to remember how to use my body again to happen. Planning for Snowy Winter Adventurethon and getting the place cleaned up for my sister's next visit...hasn't been happening.

I'd put in an LJ cut and ramble more, but I don't remember how to at the moment.

I've gotten pretty tired of Facebook using every aspect of the way you interact with others to generate advertising revenue. LJ isn't quite so bad.

I get to spend a lot of my time worrying that someday I'll be getting lumped in with people who think that companies are "out to get them", just because I don't like using internet services when I can't predict what the service I'm using may eventually be able to do with the information they gather.

End post!

Goodness, perfectionism, that's my problem. I worry so much about doing everything perfectly (or at least to some standard) that I end up doing nothing.

And you're not just excessively paranoid about Facebook; I've been cutting down on it a lot lately. They're definitely harvesting your information, and it's interesting how services that are marketed as targeting users toward the best services/products/information are using users' actual decisions to refine their own recommendations and advertising. My school studies this, so it pops up a lot.

I miss you. :(
